Vlad and Gladys Vladislapov (a.k.a. Grandpa Vlad and Grandma Gladys) are the maternal grandparents of Timmy Turner, and the parents of Mrs. Turner. They only appear in the episode, "Timmy Turnip".

Character[]

Vlad first came to America with his wife Gladys to start up a restaurant called Yak in the Box in Dimmsdale, which sold Yak meat and become very successful. He is from a small eastern European country called Ustinkistan. They hate their son-in-law, Mr. Turner, and give him gifts that are actually sacks full of vicious "weasels".

While preferring to be in America, they still hold the traditions of their homeland fairly close to heart. At least during the week of Yaksgiving, when they in native attire and speak with a native accent. The rest of the year, they embrace the American upper-class retiree lifestyle.

Description[]

Vlad bears a resemblance to his grandson, Timmy Turner, especially in his younger years where he had brown hair in a style very similar to Timmy's. His eyes are also the same color although a little glossier. He sports the elderly male stereotype of thick, bushy eyebrows. When in his homeland Ustinkistan, and during Yaksgiving, he speaks with a heavy Eastern European accent. On a typical day however, he's actually a very wealthy man who speaks with a snooty accent, wears a white track suit with red lining, and drives a huge golden SUV / RV.

Gladys' appearance greatly resembles her daughter, Mrs. Turner, aside from obviously being much older. She speaks with a heavy accent when in Ustinkistan and during Yaksgiving, but typically has a rich, snooty accent like her husband's. When not in her customary Yaksgiving clothing, she wears a white track suit with pink lacing.

Background[]

Vlad and Gladys left Ustinkistan fifty years ago when they were convinced to do so by an "escaped mental patient" (actually his time travelling grandson Timmy Turner), although presumably, they would have done so eventually anyway as they ended up in America before Timmy Turner could travel back in time or was even born. They started up Yak in the Box, a highly successful fast-food restaurant serving yak meat.

Trivia[]

  • Vlad and Gladys' "old" voices sound exactly like Boris Badenov and Natasha Fatale from The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show.
  • Timmy's father enthusiastically believes that the sack of weasels and later, the sack of badgers are actually signs that his in-laws have finally come to accept and even love him. This implies that in the past that Vlad and Gladys used to greet him in an even more vicious and painful manner.
    • It was mentioned in Information Stupor Highway, that Mr. Turner did send his wife a "threatmantic" e-mail in their childhood which is most likely a reason for their dislike of him.
  • Vlad wears many clothing related to eastern European culture, like Lederhosen, a type of German alps mountain climber costume, and a Viking costume in his appearance
