Dimmsdale's weird, man.
— Viv on her first day in Dimmsdale.[src]

Vivian "Viv" H. Turner is a main character and protagonist in the first and only season of The Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder. She’s portrayed by Audrey Grace Marshall.

Viv is usually the most level-headed person in the room, which makes her a fish out of water in the colorful chaos of Dimmsdale. While she’s forced to adjust to a new normal in such a loud and proud place, she’s also adjusting to an unpredictable new family, including her stepbrother, Roy. Their growing sibling bond has her feeling like this place might not be so bad after all.

Character[]

Description[]

Fairly Odder S1 Viv (2)

Viv is a Caucasian 13-year-old girl with dark hazel eyes, fair skin, an oval shape face and wavy blonde hair with highlights. Her height is considerably average tall with a height of 5’5”. She wears cute clothes and sometimes awful shoes. Her main casual appearance is a pink t-shirt with short, puffy sleeves, khaki shorts, white socks, and black Mary-Jane shoes.

Personality[]

Viv is a very practical down to earth girl who just loves reading books - especially ones about Shakespeare. She’s a nerd at heart and isn't as consumed with trends or being popular. She enjoys hanging out with her friends and making wishes with her fairy godparents.

Biography[]

Early life[]

Viv grew up in the town of Oldsburg with her dad, Ty Turner. She moved to Dimmsdale as a teenager after her father got back together with his ex-girlfriend, Rachel Raskin.

Season 1[]

At the beginning of the series, Viv and her father Ty move from Oldsburg to Dimmsdale after Ty reunited with his high school sweetheart, Rachel Raskin, and impulsively decided to marry her. After being surprised with a welcome party by her new stebrother Roy and meeting Zina, Viv accidentally caused Roy to fall from a ladder and break his leg. While sadly eating cake in her room alone, her cousin Timmy comes and gifts her Cosmo and Wanda. When Roy ends up seeing the fairies, Jorgen Von Strangle comes and announces that Viv and Roy must share their fairies-- that Viv and Roy have to make alternate wishes.

Throughout the season, Viv and Roy get into several sticky situations as they use Cosmo and Wanda to make wishes. At the end of the season, Viv and Roy defeat their evil teacher Vicky and save their godparents.

Episodes[]

"Cake, Dance, & Solid Gold Pants"[]

Viv is pulled out of the bushes in front of the Turner Residence, having jumped into them off screen upon finding out that she wasn't moving to a quiet farm but to Dimmsdale and that she would have a new stepmother, Rachel, and stepbrother, Roy. After being assured that it will just be a small gathering with the whole family and that her father wouldn't dance, she enters the house to a surprise welcome party being thrown for her by Roy. Viv hates surprises and is very uncomfortable the entire time. After meeting Zina, Viv admits to Roy that parties aren't really her thing, causing him to immediately try and cancel the party, which Viv stops due to anxiety. After her cousin Timmy shows up, she ends up dancing with her father and knocking into the ladder that Roy was climbing on to take down the welcome banner and breaking his leg.

Viv locks herself in her bedroom and eats cake by the handful when Roy appears on top of the skylight. Timmy comes upstairs and gifts her Cosmo and Wanda, which Roy sees before falling through the window and hurting his ribs. Instead of taking Cosmo and Wanda away from Viv, he decides to make her and Roy share the fairies and make alternating wishes. Viv and Roy have fun making a few wishes, with Viv wishing for her to have a better room and to be taller- which backfires when Cosmo and Wanda make her the size of a giant- and that her father wouldn't dance anymore. She tries to wish herself away from Dimmsdale and to a farm, but begins with "I wish I was surrounded by farm animals", which Cosmo granted without waiting for her to finish the wish. Roy refuses to wish the farm animals away so that Viv wouldn't be able to wish herself out of Dimmsdale, so he distracts the crowd by taking them on a parade to the hospital.

Viv and Zina- who had entered Viv's bedroom through the skylight with a bungee cord- smuggle the farm animals out of the house, with Viv saying it's because there's a law in Dimmsdale against harboring farm animals in your house. After they get the last animal out, Sergeant Splitz shows up and inquires about the smell before reiterating the law, which Viv had thought she made up. After convincing him that it's just her feet smelling bad, he does a split before leaving and Viv comments that Dimmsdale's weird.

At Fancy Dance Dance Studio, Roy reiterates why he doesn't want her to leave before wishing that Ty would dance again so that his mother would be happy. Viv then wishes Roy's bones healed so that he can play in the big basketball game that night, and they hug. Viv goes to the basketball game wearing a Dimmsdale Dodos hat and watches her new stepbrother win the game.

"The Forbidden Phrase"[]

After school, Viv and Roy sit in the school cafeteria before Roy decides to wish for two hundred chocolate bars, which makes Viv comment that he wishes for two hundred chocolate bars every day after school. When Zina shows up and questions how they got that many chocolate bars, Viv and Roy lie and say they used the Internet. When Ty and Rachel come disguised as teenagers to film a ClikClok video, they find out that Fancy Dance Dance Studio isn’t doing very well because no one wants to take ballroom dance lessons. Viv and Roy decide to write a song and invent a dance to upload to ClikClok so that Dustan Lumberlake will see it, and Zina immediately says she’ll help too.

After finding out how bad of a singing voice Zina has, Viv convinced her to leave the room so that they could wish for Cosmo and Wanda to help them write the catchiest song of all time. Cosmo and Wanda poof them a small band of instruments with a “catchiness” dial on the keyboard and tell them not to dial it up to eleven before they have to take a tour of Jorgen Von Strangle’s bathrooms. While Viv doesn’t want to dial it up to eleven, she is quickly convinced after Roy says she looks cool with her guitar.

Viv and Roy perform the “Monkey” song for Ty and Rachel, who enthusiastically agree that this is the song they will choreograph a dance to and upload to ClikClok. After the song went viral, the Council of Pop Superstars showed up at the Turner residence to tell them that their song contained the forbidden phrase, a sequence of notes so catchy that people turn into dancing zombies. Dustan Lumberlake and the rest of the council leave Viv and Roy to deal with it before leaving. When Viv finally has a chance to call Cosmo and Wanda back, she finds out they’re song zombies too.

Ty and Rachel come home and start getting ready to pack up and sell the house when Zina shows up singing badly enough to snap them out of it. This gives Viv an idea and uses Zina’s terrible singing to first snap Cosmo and Wanda out of it before having Roy wish for a video of Zina singing to be projected on every screen on the planet.

After the world is saved, Viv gets Dustan Lumberlake to promote Fancy Dance Studios. She also wishes for Zina to have a beautiful voice and her own music video.

"King Roydas"[]

Viv attends a meeting of "Myths and Muffins with Mister Hudgens" in her normal clothes before being asked by Zina and Roy where her toga is, as you're supposed to dress up for club meetings. Viv panics and wishes to be in something "Greek and myth-y" before being asked by Wanda if she wants to make her wish "sassy". Despite saying no, Cosmo and Wanda make the wish "sassy" anyway, so they poof her to be dressed as Athena with an owl that insults people. During the club meeting, Viv is as fascinated with the cool Mister Hudgens as all her other classmates, and is disappointed when he says that he's leaving Dimmsdale Junior High School to travel the world with his partner.

After the club meeting, Viv warns Roy to not wish that he had the Midas touch, but is ignored. She wishes that Zina would find a massive story for her school newspaper, which backfires when Roy turns his mother into gold and Zina picks that up as her story. Viv tries to wish Rachel back to normal, but is unable to do so as it is against Da Rules to unwish a sibling's wish.

After Roy destroys a second block of gold trying to make a sculpture in front of a crowd, Viv tries to get him to unwish his wish, but instead he decides to wish for a sassy wolf, which the crowd runs from. Viv says that he made the situation a lot worse before she gets insulted by the wolf and is almost attacked. After Roy is bitten and turns the wolf gold, he finally decides that he'll unwish his wish. Viv wished that the mess Roy created was cleaned up and that the gold wolf was on the pedestal the gold block had initially been on and refuses to make it sassy.

"Vicky's Best Friend"[]

Viv is talking "Hamilton" with Wanda when Cosmo cuts them off and asks them to stop loving Lin-Manuel Miranda for a few seconds, to which Viv replies that they had only just started talking about it. After being begged by Roy to make a wish so that he could wish his teeth brushed, she says that she wished he knew that twenty seconds isn't long enough to brush your teeth, which gets granted despite the fact she didn't intend for it to be a real wish.

Viv, inspired by Cosmo bringing up "Wicked" earlier, decides to wish for an after school song the next day so that other students will see her in a different light. The "After School" sequence begins with the ensemble singing and dancing, but before Viv has a chance to sing Rachel cuts her off with her own solo. After getting a second chance, Viv starts singing but is cut off again by Vicky showing up and yelling at everyone for "dancing and prancing". Viv tries to tell Vicky that they were just doing an after school musical number and places a hand on Vicky's shoulder, causing everyone to gasp. Vicky accuses her of striking a teacher during school hours, and Viv points out she gently touched her and that it wasn't school hours anymore. After Vicky winds the giant clock backwards so it was school hours again, Vicky gives her detention.

After Vicky gives Roy detention too and leaves, Viv wonders why she's so mean. Roy tells her that's just how Vicky is, and Cosmo and Wanda agree. When Viv finds Vicky's phone, she goes through Vicky's calendar and sees that all of her plans say that she's alone, making Viv think that Vicky's just lonely. She and Roy make a bet over whether or not she's evil, where if Roy wins he wears a "Viv was Right" shirt on picture day, but if Roy wins she has to wear a "Roy was Right" one. She wishes that the next person Vicky saw would be her best friend and questions why Wanda said best "fram" and not friend. Vicky shows up looking for her phone, and sees Viv. She declares that she and Viv were gonna be "best frams" before giving her a bracelet and saying that their friendship was eternal.

When Vicky cancels homework until further notice, Viv takes this as proof that Vicky isn't actually evil and was just lonely. Vicky is incredibly enthusiastic about their friendship and asks if Viv's ready for a week of nonstop best friend fun, so Viv wishes that she could get through the next week as quickly as possible, which Wanda grants as a montage. Viv and Vicky do things like bike through Dimmsdale's historically inaccurate Paris town, play volleyball, eat lunch together, and have sleepovers. Vicky uses the wind-up clock to make the school day end, gives cupcakes to students, and cancels tests for the rest of the year. Viv is exhausted from the past week and passes out in her cereal. While she's passed out, Roy wishes he was Vicky's best friend instead, causing Vicky to appear and take Viv's friendship bracelet off of her to give to Roy instead. After Viv asks what he's doing and he explains he's trying to prove Vicky's evil, Roy gets dragged away for his own week of nonstop best friend fun, which Viv wishes for him to get through as quickly as possible.

After that week ends, Viv looks for Roy and asks his boys if they'd seen him, before they tell her that, because Vicky didn't want to share him, they were no longer Roy's Boys and were instead Nate's Mates. They pass her a letter saying that he's taking a nap in Vicky's classroom, not to let him text Diana van Wellenough, and that she stepped in dog poop. She finds him passed out in a bowl of After School Instant Ribs and tells him that he has to admit now that Vicky isn't evil. When she goes to get him paper towels she knocks over the paper towel stand and finds the Crocker cave. When Vicky finds them, she gives Viv a pair of bunny slippers because of the dog poop and tells them about how she found it on her first day. Viv and Roy ask who made it if it wasn't her, and Vicky tells them it was the teacher who came before her, Mister Crocker, that he was currently in the Dimmsdale Psychiatric Hospital, and that she's in love with him. Vicky realizes that Viv is Timmy Turner's cousin and adds her name to her "fairy wall". After Roy asks why Vicky wants to find fairies, says that she wants to prove fairies exist so that Crocker would be released from DPH and they could finally be together, which Viv calls sweet. When Vicky immediately clarifies that she and Crocker can use the fairies to do any evil stuff they want and that she's evil to her core, Viv tries to get her and Roy out of Vicky's classroom. Vicky grabs on to Roy and doesn't allow Viv to take him, saying that they're getting in a "good old fashioned tug-of-Roy". Viv struggles to get Roy out of Vicky's grasp and is eventually helped by Roy's boys. After Vicky is defeated and Roy unwishes his wish, Viv awkwardly tries to leave Roy and his boys to have a reunion alone, but is greeted by Nate Buxaplenty looking for a new friend and decides to stay to avoid him.

On picture day, Viv wears a "Roy was Right!!1!" shirt.
