Characters[]

Pa and Ma Turnbaum are a duo of archetypical hillbillies who seem to be married. They are criminals that stole the Turner family's mobile home and went on a crime spree throughout the United States. They are also known as the Souvenir Bandits.

Description[]

Ma Turnbaum resembles Mrs. Turner, except her hair is in a Marge Simpson-like beehive, she has bigger eyebrows, triangular earrings and more prominent teeth. She wears a pink flannel croptop tied in a bow exposing her tummy. She has blue-violet denim jeans with ripped sleeves, black shoes, red lipstick and has a beauty mark on her right cheek. Pa Turnbaum resembles Mr. Turner, except he wears a dirty white sleeveless shirt, which looks stained from his sweat. His pants are a grey color with a patch. His belt appears to be smaller and pressing against his belly, with an oval shape buckle instead of a square shape, he is unshaven noticeable 5 o'clock shadow, has visible hair on his cleavage, greasy messy hair with a mullet, and has bad teeth.

Even their paired recreational vehicles are eerily similar

Personality[]

Not much is known about the Turnbaums though it could be that they have exactly the same personalities as Mr. and Mrs. Turner, except meaner, and possibly even dumber.

Pa is shown to be very excitable and an airhead, shouting out their secrets, or even their evil schemes, at the top of his lungs, which only annoys Ma. He also seems to be in charge of the physical work: driving their RV, using a pencil as an assault weapon and having the role of directly stealing the Sacred Silver Sharpener. Ma appears to be smarter than him (although not by a large margin) when she noticed the security at the North American Museum of Pencil Pushing was "powerful tight". Apart from enjoying stealing specifically from souvenir shops in museums, they seem to relish in framing innocent people including the Turners. They could also be vain, as Pa described them as "that hideous married couple".

Background[]

They appeared in Parent Hoods where we first see them in security footage holding a cashier at gunpoint to get Chompy the Goat memorabilia from him. After ramsacking the gift shop they escape, cutting to Chet Ubetcha announcing their crime spree and telling viewers to look out for them in the news report. Next they coincidentally arrive at the gas station where Timmy Turner's parents were using the restroom. They steal the Turner's RV in order to throw off the cops, who then arrest Timmy's parents as they looked similar to the Turnbaums. Timmy thinks of a plan to rescue his parents, and convince Cosmo and Wanda to lure them into a trap where the Canadian police can arrest them, and then have the American police release his parents. They lure the Turnbaums into going to Canada to steal the Sacred Silver Sharpener from the North American Museum of Pencil Pushing. Thanks to Timmy's plan, he was able to get the Canadian police to arrest the Turnbaums and get his parents free before they were convicted. The Turnbaums show a brief moment of quick-thinking, as they noticed the security guards were distracted, they immedaitely used a raft to escape with the Sacred Silver Sharpener. Unbeknownst to them, Timmy shot a pencil at their raft, causing it to deflate and subsequently becoming aprehended. The last we see of them is being picked up by the Canadian police in discontent, in the end we hear them off-screen thanks to Pa announcing that they are being paddled, before being shushed by his Ma, ending the episode (and their only appearance in a show) with Pa wincing.

Trivia[]

  • Their last name is pun of words "Turn" and "Baum" (which in German means "Tree").
  • In addition to speaking and dressed like stereotypical country bumpkins, their names seemed to have been chosen sounding like a portmanteau of "Turner" and "bum" or "bumpkin".
  • In "Ruled Out" when Timmy's parents were dirty, Mr. Turner's face was identical to Pa Turnbaum's face.
  • It's not made clear if Ma and Pa Turnbaum are legally married (which would have otherwise granted them the titles of Mr. and Mrs. Turnbaum), given that they're outlaws and are referred to as Ma and Pa throughout the entire episode.
