Trivia
- This episode premiered first in Latin America on March 29, 2010.
- Even though Mr. Turner said he named the Everleady, the name was already on the pencil when Timmy wished for it. This might have due to Mr. Turner's stupidity.
- This is the first appearance of Pencil Nexus as well as the first appearance of Mr. Ed Leadly.
- At the beginning, Mr. Turner decided to replace Timmy and rent a kid and take him to work.
- This episode was going to air with Teacher's Pet, but it aired with He Poofs He Scores instead.
- A scene in this episode is seen in the preview for Meet the OddParents.
- Mr. Turner apparently lost his previous job shown in previous episodes since he now works in Pencil Nexus.
- This episode was paired up with "Double-Oh Schnozmo" during the original American airing, but has since been re-airing with "He Poofs He Scores."
- This episode, along with Double-Oh Schnozmo, aired 9 years after the 9/11 attacks.
- This is the second time Timmy has styled his hair like his dad's since Father Time all the way back in Season 1
- Innuendo: Mr. Turner's says his pogo pencil is only good for making periods.
Allusions
- The Boss of Me - The title refers to They Might Be Giants' song, Boss of Me.
- Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - Pencil Nexus's interior parodies the Chocolate Factory from the film and its sequel.
- Eveready - The Everleady's name is a reference to Eveready batteries.
- Justin Timberlake - At one point in the episode, Mr. Ed Leadly put Timberlake instead of Turner on Mr. Turner's desk, which is a nod to singer and actor, Justin Timberlake.
- Pennsylvania - Mr. Turner asks Timmy if he was going to have holidays in "Pencilvania" which is a reference to the U.S. state, Pennsylvania.
- The Man in the White Suit - Timmy's wish to make an ever lasting pencil that never wears out is like the invention of the fabric that never wears, tears, or gets dirty from this movie.
- Also from this is the results - If they give out something that never breaks, then they only need so sell one of them to each person, meaning the workers are now out of jobs once everyone has said item.
Running Gags
- Somebody trying the Everleady and writing for all night and growing beards.
- People keep mentioning number two pencils as a reference to feces.
- People’s arms growing huge when they use the Everleady.
- Giving Timmy a pencil pop.
- Mr. Ed Leadly getting Mr. Turner's name wrong.
- Mr. Turner losing his invisible pencil.
Goofs
- After it shows Tootie writing "I love Timmy" on a paper with an Everleady until her arm becomes huge, the next scene is the same thing happening to Sheldon Dinkleberg. If you look closely, you'll see that he is writing the same thing ("I love Timmy") on his paper as well!
- They might be writing "I love Timmy" possibly because Timmy invented Everleady, which means this is not a goof.
Quotes
- Mr. Turner: Pencil!
- Timmy: Today is bring your kid to work day at my dad's office.
- Cosmo: But Timmy, you don't have a kid!
- Timmy: You rented a kid?
- Mr. Turner: Timmy, Timmy, Timmy. Work is a very competitive environment, I've got to put my best foot forward. Not some smelly foot with embarrassingly large teeth.
- Timmy: Dad you've got to take me, I don't wanna go to school! I mean...I've always wanted to learn about the amazing world of whatever it is you do.
- Mr. Turner: This is my son Timmy.
- Mr. Ed Leadly: Nice to meet you, little girl. Have a pencil pop. [he shoves the pencil pop into Timmy's mouth]
- Mr. Turner: But I have this, my invisible pencil! [uses it to write, then drops it] Ahh! I dropped it! It's gone, just like my dream! [falls onto the floor and starts crying]
- Mr. Turner: Timmy, I heard a choir of angels! Did something good happen?
- Timmy: While you were gone I invented this! A pencil that lasts forever!
- Mr. Turner: Can I have pencil pop too?
- Mr. Ed Leadly: No!
- Mr. Ed Leadly: As they say in the pencil business, you're my number two.
- Timmy: Can they call me something else?
- Mr. Ed Leadly: You're vice president. You know what that means?
- Timmy: I get to totally goof around all day and use the company jet to go to the mall?
- Mr. Ed Leadly: No, that's my job [presses a button on a remote and a jet is flying outside the window] Your job is to fire the slackers. Starting with Timberlake.
- Timmy: But that's my dad, and his name's Turner.
- Mr. Ed Leadly: Fine. Turner, fire Turner.
- Mr. Ed Leadly: Turner, we've got trouble. All the people who bought your stupid pencils are filing lawsuits and death threats against me! Ordinarily I'd ignore them, but they're pounding down the doors with their giant misshapen arms and writing some very nasty things on the company wall!
- Cosmo: Hah! you don't scare me Mr. Sharpener!
- Chet Ubetcha: In other news a dense forest has spread throughout Dimmsdale!
- Chet Ubetcha: In other news I'm being attacked by a racoon!
- Timmy: Dad, can you come into my office?
- Timmy: That was terrible! I hope I don't have to fire someone else!
- Mr. Ed Leadly: Turner, you've gotta fire everyone. Because of the Everleady, people only need one pencil for their whole lives so sales have plummeted. We're closing down production.
- Everyone: (screaming and sobbing) We're all little jobless babies. (Sobbing more) WE HATE TIMMY.
- Timmy: I've got to fix this somehow. I wish all the everleady pencils were destroyed.
- Timmy: Thanks dad! By the way, I found your invisible pencil
- Mr. Turner: Good news Timmy! You can come!
- Mr. Turner - Curse you invisible pencil!
- Mr. Turner: Pencils!
