What could possibly go wrong?
Warning! This page contains spoilers for "The Battle of Big Wand". |
The Big Wand is the source of all magical power in Fairy World, powering all the magic wands of the fairies on Earth. In almost the entire original series, it is a giant radio tower like structure with a large gold star on top. In "Merry Wishmas" and "The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish", it looks more like a city observation tower with a gold star on it, although it is possible this is merely a control tower for the Big Wand and modifications were made in the future. Only time will tell if "A New Wish" is the official canon.
Information[]
History[]
When Jimmy Neutron first visited Fairy World with Mr. Crocker, the teacher raided the Fairy Armory for enough weapons and power to knock over the Big Wand itself and cut off the supply of magic to everyone, but himself, who was running on a personal power supply. Fortunately, with a little help from Cosmo and Wanda creating a distraction, Jimmy was able to repair the wand (possibly converting it to electric) and restored power, just in time to blast Mr. Crocker with Jorgen's wand and defeat him.
Until recently, Mr. Crocker was what caused the Big Wand to transmit power across the universe and beyond (probably voice activation by his spasms). After he temporarily stopped believing in fairies thanks to Dr. Fancyfree hypnotizing him, the Big Wand was drained of all of its power, and Fairy World became a slum before nearly plummeting toward Giant Bucket of Acid World. After they were able to convince Crocker fairies existed again and restoring power, they also began to rely on the spasms from Crocker-like people from all around the Earth so that this black-out would not happen again.
It was revealed in "The Big Fairy Share Scare" that the Big Wand's power is recharged on Fridays and is what protects the Earth from Anti-Fairies. The star part of the Big Wand is shown in "Fairy for a Day" to have a macrochip embedded in it that, if dislodged, would disrupt the flow of power from it until the chip is realigned. In "The Battle of Big Wand", Dev Dimmadome and Irep replaced the macrochip with a 3D printed one that instead powered Anti-Fairies' wands, effectively making the Big Wand a second Big Anti-Fairy Wand. Hazel Wells was able to revert the chips and give the Big Wand a jump-start with help from Bary.
