Plot[]
When Vicky takes over Dev's birthday party as part of her personal money-making scheme, Hazel stages a Home Alone-style takedown to save the day. Cosmo, Wanda and Peri discover that Dev's dad has been investigating Hazel.
Synopsis[]
The episode starts off with Hazel, along with Cosmo and Wanda in their human forms ringing the doorbell to Dev’s house. When Dev answers the door, being accompanied by Peri, Hazel, Cosmo and Wanda start dancing and wish him a happy birthday. Dev shyly thanks them, and Hazel hands him his present; the new “Prime Meridian Love” manga that was only released underseas. Dev asks Hazel how she got it, and Cosmo and Wanda are shown to be wet and covered with sea creatures, indicating that they got it. They use their magic to clean themselves off and Wanda asks Dev if his dad’s home. Dev explains that his father was working on something called “Project H”, and clearly annoyed Dev adds that his father has been spending all of his time on the project, but he tries to brush it off as if it doesn’t bother him. Cosmo, being optimistic, states that he hopes the H stands for “him missing his son’s birthday party is actually a cover for the amazing surprise he has for him”. Dev tells Cosmo that isn’t the case and invites them in so he can show them where the party is, clearly saddened that his father isn’t there.
Hazel notices Dev’s downcast demeanor and she tells him she has another gift for him, much to his surprise. Hazel tells Dev to close his eyes, and she whispers to Cosmo and Wanda that she wishes she had a pair of rocket boots for Dev. They grant her wish, and Hazel presents the boots to Dev who is awestruck. Dev then asks Peri why he didn’t think to give him rocket boots while calling him “pickle brain Peri”. Annoyed, Peri explains that his job is to grant Dev wishes not to read his mind. Dev puts on the boots and starts flying around as Hazel, Cosmo and Wanda watch. Peri, unimpressed, tells them that should keep Dev happy for ten minutes and Cosmo hugs Peri, saying that those ten minutes should give him enough time to give them a tour of the house. Peri pulls away, and Wanda insists that they want to see where their son has been living but she also tells Peri to blink twice if he needs help.
Peri tells his parents that living with Dev has its perks and he insists on showing them the cereal bar, and Cosmo and Wanda return to their original fairy forms before Peri leads the way. Hazel advices them to mix two different cereals together for more flavor.
Dev continues flying around until someone rings the doorbell. One of the drones flying around the house wishes Dev a happy birthday and tells him to enjoy the entertainment, letting him know the message was from his father. Excited, Hazel asks Dev if his father got him a party performer for his birthday. Touched, Dev realizes that his father actually remembered his birthday this time and figured that Cosmo was right about the surprise being “Project H” and he hopes it’s a Duckworth cosplayer.
Suddenly, there’s a shrill voice on the other side of the door, and Dev asks the drone who it is. The drone scans the door, and they see a silhouette, which leads to an excited Hazel pointing out that it’s a party Princess, saying that she didn’t realize that Dev was a fan of the renaissance, much to Dev’s frustration. Not wanting a party Princess, Dev asks the drone if his father used an algorithm with keywords of what kids like to hire the party princess. One drone confirms it, while the other one tries to deny it.
Trying to keep Dev’s spirits high, Hazel suggests that maybe it’s a very cool party princess and she tells him that she bets that this party will be his most memorable birthday ever. Once the door opens it’s Vicky in a Princess costume. She’s initially nice to Dev but immediately takes notice of the extravagant interior of the house. Dev leads her to the elevator to take her to the party, and Hazel, in a British accent, tells her that Dev’s party is the party of the season and she tells her that she’s hungry but it’s nothing “a fresh crumpet” won’t fix.
They all get in the elevator and it leads them to the upper level. All the kids are hanging out until Vicky gets their attention by singing. Jasmine is in awe of a real life Princess, assuming that she has the most romantic Princess name. She guesses that it must be Grisella, Winn guesses her name is Mimmsdale and Hazel guesses that her name is Hannafred, but Vicky introduces herself as Princess Vicky. At the mention of her name, Jasmine is reminded of the old Chip Skylark song “Icky Vicky” and starts singing it before trying to play it on her phone. Trying to hold back her anger, Vicky takes Jasmine’s phone and breaks the screen before claiming she’s never heard of the song.
Vicky tells the kids they have to hurry if they’re going to get through all their activities in time and she takes out crafts to make bracelets much to the excitement of the kids.
Meanwhile, Peri, Cosmo and Wanda stumble into what looks like a secret room and Wanda points out that it doesn’t look like a cereal bar. Peri exclaims that the room must be what the button with the dollar sign on it leads to, and he explains to his parents that he’s always been too afraid to press it, because he was worried that he would be charged money for the elevator ride. Cosmo says that he always says if you never press every button in an elevator, you’ll never find a secret room, and Wanda tells their son that Cosmo does actually say that. Cosmo uses his wand to light up the room so they can see why it’s so secret and the first thing they see is a painting of Dale with a muscular physique on the wall. Creeped out, Cosmo says that he doesn’t really need to see what’s so secret about the room and dims the light to his wand. Peri just turns on the light and encourages his parents not to give up because the secret room was way more interesting than a cereal bar. Cosmo and Wanda get freaked out by the expression painted on Dale’s face, and Peri assured them that Dale’s expression is always that upsetting.
Back at the party, Vicky is forcing the kids to make teddy bears. She sitting on a pile of friendship bracelets the kids made while using one child as a foot stool and the other is fanning her down and feeding her cake. Vicky’s on the phone with a customer who is complaining about her broken snow globe. Vicky tells the customer that she’s sorry to hear that her snow globe broke, but she assures her that all of her crafts are made with care and she declares there are no returns. Vicky looks at the large statue and says there is something familiar about it. She asks Dev what his last name is and he says he’s a Dimmadome. Hazel explains that Dev’s father, Dale Dimmadome, is pretty well known in their neighborhood, and she asks if Vicky’s heard of him. Vicky claims credit of his entrepreneurship. She goes on to tell Dev that his father Dale was the laziest worker in her lemonade stand and that he had no work ethic before he met her. Vicky then gets mad about Dale getting rich and not giving her a percentage of his wealth.
One of the children asks Vicky if he could stop sewing, showing her that his hands are throbbing. Vicky asks if his fingers are hurting, and when he nods yes, she yells at him that it’s too bad because her bank account is hurting. She rhetorically asks them if they think that being a party princess pays the bills. She tells them it doesn’t but selling arts and children’s crafts online for her online store is where the money is. She demands that they keep working on the bears, telling them that her online store isn’t going to fill itself with merchandise. Jasmine complains that birthday parties are supposed to be fun and Vicky replies that them making her money is fun. She demands that they all put smiles on their faces saying that she’s the boss and she doesn’t want to hear anymore complaining. She demands they get back to work while calling them twerps.
Through gritted teeth, Hazel tells Dev that Vicky is ruining his party. Dev agrees, but also inquires as to what Vicky was talking about when she said that she knew his father. Hazel tells Dev that they need to stop Vicky and she tries calling out for Cosmo and Wanda, and Dev tries calling out for Peri but none of them answer much to their confusion.
Back in the secret room, Peri, Cosmo and Wanda are searching around. When they spot a giant keyboard, Cosmo starts playing with the keys until he realizes they make music. He starts dancing on the keyboard until he accidentally activates the monitor. When the monitor turns on, the heading is “Project H” with a picture of Hazel at the Founder’s Day Festival. When Wanda asks if they know what this means, Cosmo says that it means that they weren’t the only ones that were jealous of Hazel’s hat at the Founder’s Day Festival. Wanda explains to Cosmo that it means that Dale has been studying Hazel since Founder’s Day. Peri starts questioning why would Dale study Hazel, and when he gets a closer look at the monitor, Peri points out that Dale sees everyone as a dollar sign, but Hazel doesn’t need to buy things. Wanda adds the reason that Hazel doesn’t need to buy anything is because she has fairy godparents. Frantic, Cosmo points out that Dale has been studying Hazel since Founder’s Day. Wanda is enamored by the fact that Cosmo knows what’s going on, despite the fact that it took him a bit longer to realize it, while Peri remains unimpressed by how long it took his father to catch on.
Back at the party, the kids are blowing up balloons. Vicky tells them to move faster saying that the party she’s working at the following day is balloon themed and she’s charging the host for every single balloon. Hazel disguises herself in balloons and sneaks over to the other kids. When Hazel tries to get their attention, Jasmine tells Hazel that they can’t be caught talking or Vicky will make them write a profit loss statement for her online store’s quarterly earnings. Just then, Vicky is seen dropping a stack of papers onto one of the kids telling him to find a way to make the numbers add up. Hazel tells them to meet her by the snack table and disguise themselves with the balloons, saying she has a plan to take back the birthday party.
Seconds later, Hazel, Dev, Winn and Jasmine make their way to the snack table and hide under it. Hazel said that she considered a peaceful protest, but declares that Vicky is a class four meanie that they’re dealing with. Jasmine says they’ve never dealt with a class four meanie before and Winn says that they need to kick Vicky to the curb. Dev asks how they’re going to do that and he nearly lets it slip that he and Hazel have fairy godparents. He catches himself when he says fair and tries to save it by saying that they don’t have fairness in size because they’re much smaller than Vicky. Hazel says that with her plan they don’t need to be big and it was time to execute Operation Birthday Takeback. Hazel lays out her map and Dev has one of his drones scan it and make a 3-D projection of it and Hazel explains her plan.
In the secret room, Cosmo points out that Dale is really hung up about the fact that Hazel doesn’t buy anything. Cosmo also points out that Dale must not realize that Hazel can wish for what she wants and he actually writes it on the monitor. Wanda adds that Hazel can wish for other kids and she to write it on the monitor. She also adds that Hazel wishing for things for other kids must be the reason why the other kids stop buying things. Cosmo and Wanda also add to the monitor a drawing of the big wand and fairy world. Perplexed, Peri asks his parents what they’re thinking, and Wanda, realizing that he’s right says they’re leaving the biggest part out which is them and she writes on the monitor that Hazel’s neighbors are magic. Peri sarcastically tells them that they might as well tell Dale that fairies exist. Not understanding his sarcasm, Cosmo and Wanda agree, and they write on Dale’s monitor that fairies exist.
After explaining her plan, Hazel tells the other kids that they need to stick together and not look Vicky in the eye. Hazel declares that this is for them and all the other kids that Vicky has ever wronged, and that they will be taking back their power. Icky Vicky starts playing when Hazel, Dev, Winn, and Jasmine start terrorizing Vicky by running around, giving her an electric shock with static electricity, and making her fall into several booby traps, including being covered with chocolate sauce and sprinkles.
The kids, then hide in Dev’s bedroom, and Dev and Hazel disguise themselves as a ghost. Hazel tells Vicky that she needs to pay for the things she’s done, and, playing along, Vicky says that she’s sorry for her actions and asks what she can do to fix the error of her ways. Hazel tell Vicky that she needs to leave the party and never come back, and Dev whispers to Hazel that she needs to ask Vicky for more stuff before she goes. Hazel then tells Vicky that before she leaves she must make french fries and milkshakes for everyone at the party. Vicky complies, and Dev whispers to the Hazel to ask for lemonade too, claiming that he’s never been able to have lemonade. Hazel then tells Vicky that she also must make freshly squeezed lemonade. Vicky then quickly tackles Hazel and Dev and ties them up with duct tape. Winn and Jasmine try to attack Vicky, but she grabs them by their ears and tells them they need to be separated. As she’s leading them out of the room, Hazel tells Vicky that she won’t get away with what she’s doing and Vicky tells Hazel to watch her. She tells them she’ll be back for them and warns them not to try to escape.
After she leaves, Hazel struggles to break free from the duct tape and calls out to Cosmo, Wanda and Peri, wondering where they are. Dev tells Hazel to hold onto something, and she manages to wiggle her arm free from the tape and hold onto the edge of Dev’s bed, and Dev uses his rocket boots to pull them apart. Dev tells Hazel they need to leave before Vicky comes back, and Hazel wonders how they’re going to do that because the only way out is the elevator and Vicky is using it. Dev points to his rocket boots saying that’s not the only way they can get out and Hazel starts to get nervous. Just then, Vicky returns and Dev grabs Hazel and tries to fly off with her, but Vicky grabs her by the leg. Hazel tells Dev to find their fairies before willingly letting go. Dev, refusing to leave Hazel behind commands his drones, one who grabs Hazel and the other one who holds Vicky’s arms down. While they’re flying off, Vicky takes one of the drones and throws it towards Hazel, knocking her off the drone she’s riding on and landing in the ear of the statue of Dale’s head and Dev follows her.
When they land in the secret room, Hazel spots the painting of Dale on the wall and Dev tries to shield her eyes. Just then, Cosmo asks them what they’re doing there much to Dev’s confusion who says he’s never seen the room before. Wanda and Peri pop in, and Wanda welcomes Dev to his father’s “evil lair”, much to Peri’s embarrassment. Cosmo corrects Wanda explaining that she meant “welcome to your dad’s secret evil lair.” Dev gets upset with Peri and asks him if he knew about the room and didn’t tell him. Before Peri could answer, Hazel jumps in and tells him that they could argue about who knew what later, but right now they have a Princess problem to deal with. Cosmo then uses his magic to transform himself into a princess and says that he’s never met a princess that was a problem. Wanda then tells Cosmo that she’s never met a princess that wasn’t a problem. Dev explains that his father hired a party princess, and Hazel adds that she seemed nice at first, but then she forced them to make merchandise for her online store. Both Dev and Hazel explain that the princess chased them, tied them up and kept calling them twerps. Cosmo uses his magic to change himself back, and he laughs, joking that the next thing they’re going to tell them is that the Princess’s name is Vicky.
Hazel confirms that the Princess’s name is Vicky, much to their horror. Hazel asks if they know her, and Cosmo says that they are terrified of her. Wanda explains that Vicky being a terrible babysitter is the reason that their previous godchild, Timmy ended up with them as fairy godparents in the first place. Shaking, Cosmo says that he’ll never forget her scream. Just then Vicky starts screaming, and Hazel asks if that was the scream Cosmo was talking about and Cosmo asks Hazel if she could hear his thoughts. Terrified, Wanda tells Cosmo that Vicky is coming, and both Cosmo and Wanda transform into their human forms. Peri starts freaking out, not realizing that Vicky was real, saying that he thought that Vicky was something he made up as a baby. He says to tell him when it’s over, and he transforms into one of the drones and tries to sing to drown out what was going on around him.
As Vicky comes into the secret room, she starts screaming at Dev and Hazel until she spots Cosmo and Wanda, who she thinks are normal adults. She then puts up a sweet and kind demeanor when she sees them addressing them as the parents and/or chaperones. Cosmo confirms that they are the chaperones and tells Vicky that she’s going to be in so much trouble for being mean to Timmy before he quickly corrects himself to say that he meant Dev. Wanda tells her that she can’t fool them with her innocent act and they threaten to call the Better Princess Bureau, and report her. Meanwhile, still disguised as a drone, Peri gets nervous when he accidentally looks Vicky in the eyes. Vicky starts getting nervous and tells Cosmo and Wanda that she doesn’t know what the kids have told them but she assures them that the kids are lying. She tells them that she’ll go get her business card for them before quickly leaving the room and running away from the house. The other kids leave as well, happy to be free of Vicky.
Peri turns himself back to normal asking why is Vicky still working in child care, and Cosmo says that she followed her passion, which was yelling at kids. Wanda realizes that adults must be Vicky’s kryptonite, and that would’ve been good information to have a few decades earlier.
Meanwhile, Dev had wandered off, and Hazel followed him to the monitor. She sees Project H and is confused as to why there are pictures of her at the Founders Day Festival on the monitor. Dev realizes that Hazel is Project H much to her confusion, but Hazel quickly realizes that the H stands for Hazel. Upset, Dev recounts that every day his father talks about his project and his father missed his birthday party because he was studying her. Hazel explains that it looks like Dev’s father wasn’t only studying her but Cosmo and Wanda as well. Annoyed, Dev corrects himself saying that his father was studying Hazel, as well as Cosmo and Wanda. Dev also points out that he, his father’s son has a fairy, and he doesn’t even know it. He glances over at Peri, who is being smothered by both of his parents.
Hazel tries to tell Dev it’s for the best that his father doesn’t know about Peri, and Dev cuts her off asking her if she thinks that his one fairy is not as important as her two fairies who’s she’s had for a longer amount of time then Dev has had Peri for. Dev points out that his dad cares more about his friend before he stops short and asks Hazel if she wished for them to be friends. Hazel immediately answers yes but tries to backpedal, explaining that she wished to understand him, but tries to explain that friendship happened after that. Dev cuts her off again, and he realizes that he should’ve known that something was up because Dimmadomes don’t just make friends, and he goes on to accuse Hazel of getting in his head. He also accuses Hazel of playing him from the start. Hazel apologizes to Dev for the way things turned out but says that it seems that his anger is directed at his dad.
Dev tells Hazel that he can’t trust her and tells her to leave him alone, calling her hazmat. Hazel doesn’t argue and agrees to leave. Before she leaves with Cosmo and Wanda, Hazel sadly wishes Dev a happy birthday. While they’re walking home, Wanda tells Hazel that she’s sorry the party was a bust. Hazel thanks her and says that the day was confusing and icky. Cosmo says that’s what you get with Vicky claiming that she’s been making kids miserable since 2001. Hazel suggests a movie night to put the day behind them. She says that a really big ice cream goes great with movies, and Cosmo and Wanda happily grant her wish and give her an ice cream cone stacked high with multiple scoops. Hazel enjoys her ice cream saying that hazel berry is her favorite. Wanda creates her own ice cream cone saying that she prefers Wanda-berry explaining that it’s a good balance of sweet-and-sour. Cosmo said that he had Cosmo-berry once but he didn’t like it because it was too nutty. Hazel tells Cosmo and Wanda that she’s happy to have them cheer her up and Wanda says that they’re also glad to be there to cheer her up.
Meanwhile, back in the secret room, Dev is still staring at the monitor. Peri pops in and asks Dev if there’s anything he can do to help cheer him up. He reminds him that it’s still his birthday, saying that they should do something fun and he tries encouraging Dev to make a wish. Dev gets mad and tells Peri that he could’ve used his help an hour earlier. He then tells Peri that he wishes he would leave him alone. Dejected, Peri meekly obeys Dev’s wish and disappears.
After Peri leaves, Dev angrily destroys Project H on the monitor by scratching over it before leaving the room while crying to himself.
