  • This is one of the few episodes where Timmy does not wear his usual pink hat.
  • The title card music is the same as the music in "Old Man and the C-".
  • If you include Oh Yeah! Cartoons, this is the 10-year anniversary of the Fairly OddParents with this episode, even though the next episode is in May, not March.
  • This is the first episode where A FAIRY actually wishes something (Wanda's wish for Poof).
  • Vicky buries Timmy alive in this episode.

  • Pittsburgh Pirates - Dimmsdale Pirates baseball team is a reference to the baseball team.
  • Sesame Street - The monsters holding the letters "R" and "C" are a reference to the show.
  • Banjo-Kazooie - When Cosmo becomes an ostrich, he shoots eggs in a similar way Kazooie launched them.
  • Tom and Jerry: Shiver Me Whiskers - The parrot translating everything Dirty Beard says is similar to how the parrots that belonged to Red Pirate Ron and Blue Pirate Bob, who were named Stan and Betty, did for their masters who only communicated by saying "Yar", which was a language the latter parrots understood.

  • Cosmo as a fish would have still been able to make an egg, but it would be much smaller. This is quite similar to Timmy's Dad when he turns into ostrich legs and laid an egg.

Vicky: (Counting how many steps from where Timmy is underground) One, two, whatever! Go pirates!

Timmy: I wish we could see the pirates in action!

Vicky: I'll draw a map to know your-- oh well!

Timmy: At least he got the pirates part right?

Timmy: Yuck! A chicken bone?!

Mr. Turner: "Yo-ho-ho and a bottle of EAT THIS!"
