Trivia

  • Hazel's wish to become a detective is a similar to the original series episode "Where's Wanda?".
  • When Hazel goes into the food pantry, some of the food cans are labeled "Mystery Meat", the title of the first episode of Danny Phantom, another show that created by Butch Hartman.
  • On the conspiracy board, Elvis and Mark Chang can be seen.
  • Wanda was seen talking & moving in her 2D cartoon form, reminiscent of how she looked in the original series.
  • Even though Hazel says that she has "an unlimited supply of magical wishes" after becoming a detective, she ends up resolving the mystery without a single wish for the whole episode.
  • This is the first episode in A New Wish with “The Fairly OddParents in:” in the title card.
  • As of this episode, John and Jane Doe are the landlords of the apartment building that Hazel and her parents live in -- and Mr. and Mrs. Doe's identical twin sons are also students at Dimmadelphia Enrichment Academy alongside Hazel.

Allusions

  • Gumshoe - As Wanda notes, "gumshoe" is an old school term for a detective. She explains this to Cosmo after he initially takes Hazel's wish to be just like the detectives she and her dad watch on TV (whom she refers to as "gumshoe(s)") literally, turning Hazel into an old shoe stuck in a wad of bubblegum.
  • Area 51 - Area 52 is a reference to Area 51, a classified US air force base featured in many extraterrestrial conspiracy theories.
  • Murder, She Wrote - The Episode’s name is a reference to the drama “Murder, She Wrote”.
