• This is the second and last time Veronica's crush on Timmy Turner is mentioned.
• When Cosmo says he has Chip Skylark in his mind, Chip appears and sings the song, My Shiny Teeth and Me. The song is archived recordings from Chip's previous appearance of the show.

Allusions

• Mind Over Matter - The title of the episode is a reference to this term.

• The Fairly OddParents theme - A running gag in this episode is that Cosmo's head plays an elevator music-like version of The Fairly OddParents theme song.

• A.J.: "You've fragged my frigate!" - This is a reference to the board game, Battleship and the phrase "You've sunk my battleship!".

• The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius - Mr. Crocker tells the children to "Think! Think!" in a similar manner to Jimmy does throughout the series.

• The Twilight Zone - The scene of Crocker telling the children to "Think! Think!" is also a reference to the episode, Mute.
