"Love at First Bark" is the twenty-ninth episode of Season 9.
Plot[]
Sparky falls in love with Peaches, the new pet dog of Sheldon Dinkleberg. However, because of his hatred of anything related to Mr. Dinkleberg, Timmy's dad forbids Sparky from associating with Peaches—Sparky (with help from Timmy, Cosmo and Wanda) come up with ways for Sparky to be with Peaches.
Synopsis[]
Timmy notices hearts floating Sparky's head. Sparky tells him he is in love with Peaches, a slow-witted dog who lives next door. Dinkleberg notices Timmy looking at Peaches and explains that she belongs to him. He offers Timmy reward money he got for a heroic deed, but Mr. Turner shows up and tells him off. Timmy asks his father why he cannot be nice to Dinkleberg, noting how Sparky is friendly with Peaches. Mr. Turner then takes Sparky away from Peaches because "no Turner shall ever associate with a Dinkleberg".
Mr. Turner brings Sparky some single animals for him to date instead of Peaches. However, none of the bachelorettes are actual dogs; one is a seal, another is Mrs. Crocker, and the last one is a timber wolf named Voodoo who attacks Mr. Turner. Timmy thinks the only way Sparky will be able to see Peaches is if Mr. Turner gets to like her, so he wishes his father liked Peaches just as much as Sparky does. Mr. Turner comes by to say he is now in love with Peaches and wants her for himself. Seeing how his wish went wrong, Timmy tells Cosmo and Wanda to undo it, which they cannot do because destroying true love violates Da Rules. Sparky and Mr. Turner confront each other in front of Peaches's doghouse and boast that they will win over Peaches with gifts of chocolate (Mr. Turner assumes Sparky learned to talk just to impress her) up until they learn from Dinkleberg that Peaches is with a veterinarian. At night, Sparky and Mr. Turner come back to Dinkleberg's yard and compete to serenade Peaches with their music, which goes on until Peaches bumps her head and passes out.
The next day, Timmy tells his father he is crazy for being in love with a dog, which he says is something only other dogs are supposed to do. Mr. Turner takes this to mean he should dress as a dog; he runs to Peaches in a dog costume, but is taken to the pound by a dogcatcher who fell for the disguise. Timmy tries to make Peaches love Sparky in the hopes that this will make Mr. Turner lose interest in her. He makes Sparky wear a suit of meat thinking Peaches would find it attractive, but instead it attracts Voodoo and the wolf attacks Sparky. The dogcatcher brings Mr. Turner back, having realized he is a human. Mr. Turner and Sparky agree that their rivalry has escalated too far. Sparky suggests they should just let Peaches choose her boyfriend. Once Timmy points out that Peaches has already fallen in love with Voodoo (who is apparently male), Mr. Turner finally decides he was "delusional" to be attracted to her. Sparky is fine with the rejection since he has chosen to date Voodoo's sister.
