Trivia
- Unusually for a Nickelodeon show, this episode features a small boy around Timmy's age being killed (nearly) onscreen.
- It is revealed in a later episode, "Fairly Odd Baby", that wishing a person back to life is against Da Rules. However, Timmy does not explicitly wish for the godparents to revive Artie.
- This episode reveals that Dragons are impervious to magic.
- This episode is one of Butch Hartman's top picks in the DVD Timmy's Top Wishes.
- Merlin sounds a lot like Snagglepuss and Top Cat from the old Hanna-Barbera cartoons. Butch Hartman used to work for Hanna-Barbera before creating The Fairly OddParents. It's unknown whether this was intentional or not.
- The episode's script features a scene in which Timmy unintentionally stops Attila the Hun from invading England, hence the mention of Attila in the voice credits.
Allusions
- The episode's title is a pun on the phrase "nighty night".
- Top Secret! - The running gag of Timmy's parents walking around in a two-person cow costume is very much like a similar gag occurring in this 1980s war/spy parody film, when two members of a resistance team go undercover as a cow to infiltrate an enemy base.
- King Arthur - The medieval England depicted in this episode is loosely based on the Arthurian legend.
- He-Man and the Masters of the Universe - Arthur becoming a strong man with a deep voice is similar to how Prince Adam became He-Man.
- Merlin the Magic Mouse - Both the later Looney Tunes character and this episode's Merlin the Magician are seemingly fraudulent magicians with the same names, along with a kid sidekick (although it is not stated how Merlin the Magic Mouse's sidekick, Second Banana, is related to him).
Running Gags
- Sir Finkleberg injuring his arm when he tries to lift something or raises it.
- Mr. and Mrs. Turner walking around in a two-person cow costume.
- Someone asks his magical companion(s) to help him slay the dragon, only for them to tell him dragons are impervious to magic.
- Merlin throwing magic dust on the ground to fake magically (dis)appearing.
- Merlin and Arthur find a magical item, but Timmy takes it before they can, and people declare him the new king.
- A skeleton coming out of the dragon's cave.
Goofs
- On the title card, the hilt of Timmy's sword changes from dark gray to light gray when the director credit appears.
- The date of the Dimmsdale Camelot Festival suggests it has been held annually since nearly 600 years ago – before the discovery of America in 1492, let alone the founding of Dimmsdale in 1665 or 1744.
- The legend of King Arthur takes place in the late 5th and early 6th centuries, a millenium before it happens here.
- In the shot where a crowd says "All hail King...", the cap of the spectator in the lower left rapidly changes the thickness of its outline from frame to frame.
- Comcast's summary states that the dragon's master wants to cast a spell on Cosmo, which never happens in the actual episode.
- A similar thing is written in the Fios description of the episode, saying it was Vicky.
- The credits refer to Dee Bradley Baker as Dee Barker.
