Trivia
- When Jimmy and Timmy are in the monster truck, the dixie horn can be heard as they are driving by and its the same dixie horn sound effects as The General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard.
- This special was originally supposed to serve as the series finale for both The Fairly OddParents and The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius. But The Fairly OddParents ended up receiving five more seasons, with the sixth season premiering just over a year and a half after this special first aired.
- Jimmy Neutron also eventually got a follow-up in the form of Planet Sheen, a short-lived spinoff series focusing on Jimmy's friend, Sheen Estevez, which only ran for one season between 2010 and 2013.
- The idea of a series centered on both universes was floated around inside Nickelodeon. However, the idea failed to gain traction due to the mixed reception of The Jerkinators as well as the bankruptcy of Jimmy Neutron's studio, DNA Productions.[citation needed]
- Due to DNA Productions being in the process of shutting down, due to the lackluster performance of The Ant Bully, they were very limited in how much they could animate. This is why most of the special takes place in the Fairly OddParents universe/art style, and scenes in the Jimmy Neutron universe are short and limited in scope. This could also be why Jimmy and Cindy are the only characters to be seen in their world at the end, while the others remain in Timmy's world.
- A number of Jimmy Neutron characters appear in the Fairly OddParents! art style in "RetroDimmsdaleville": Hugh and Judy Neutron, Butch Pakovski, Ms. Fowl, Mayor Quador, Sam Melvick, Ebenezer Wheezer, Principal Willoughby, Corky Shimatzu, Officer Tubbs, Mr. Estevez, and a handful of other minor characters.
- When Shirley was playing a game similar to “Go-Fish” using the Retroville and Dimmsdale as cards, he was seen pairing the Jimmy Neutron characters with their Fairly OddParents "counterparts":
- Ms. Winifred Fowl and Mr. Denzel Crocker: Both are the eccentric school teachers of the main characters, with a particular dislike for one of their students (Sheen for Fowl, and Timmy for Crocker).
- Butch Pakovski and Francis: Both are violent, slow-witted school bullies (although Butch is a little softer and doesn't pick on Jimmy as much as Francis does with Timmy).
- Mayor Quador and The Mayor of Dimmsdale: The mayors of the main cities.
- Hugh Neutron and Mr. Turner: Both are bumbling, dim-witted fathers of the main characters (although Hugh is a more attentive father than Mr. Turner).
- Judy Neutron and Mrs. Turner: Both are mothers of the main characters (although Judy is more competent and attentive than Mrs. Turner).
- Like Abra-Catastrophe!, Channel Chasers, School's Out!: The Musical, Fairy Idol, When Nerds Collide!, and Jimmy Timmy Power Hour, an alternative version split into 3 parts also exists with redesigned title cards. This was primarily designed for international broadcasters such as the BBC, who sometimes aired the show inside another show (such as Dick & Dom in da Bungalow). However, on occasion, the BBC has aired the full length special as a separate program.
- There is an online Nick.com game based on this episode called Shirley's Revenge.
- This is the second The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius episode that has the music of Raymond Scott's Powerhouse (famous for being heard in numerous Looney Tunes cartoons) is heard, with the first time was in episode "Return of the Nanobots".
- This is the only Jimmy Timmy Power Hour crossover where Goddard and Jorgen Von Strangle are not present, although the former is in the intro with Cosmo and Wanda on his back just like the last two Jimmy Timmy Power Hour episodes.
- This was the last official Nicktoons crossover in TV animation until "Beast of Friends" in 2017.
- This is the only episode in the Jimmy Timmy Power Hour trilogy to include only one main villain.
Allusions
- Prince - Shirley, after being made fun of for his name, refers to himself as "The villain who's name isn't Shirley". The musician Prince was referred to as "The Artist Formerly Known as Prince" after changing his stage name to an unpronounceable symbol for a period in the 1990's (due to a contract dispute with his record label).
Continuity & Easter Eggs
- Captain Betty makes a cameo on the billboard that Jimmy and Timmy hit.
- This is one of the few episodes to reference the Fairly OddParents theme song, with the others being the first Jimmy Timmy Power Hour and "Timmy's Secret Wish!".
- This is the second episode in The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius that Jimmy's brain gets drained, with the first time being "Normal Boy". However, Jimmy doesn't become quite as stupid as he was in that episode, and, at the same time, he isn't seen getting his brains back at the end, but it's a given he did when Cindy told Cosmo and Wanda to.
Goofs
- Before Timmy, Cosmo and Wanda poof to Retroville, the latter two are in their hummingbird forms, but when they appear in Retroville, they are in their usual fairy forms. The same thing happens later when they follow Jimmy and Timmy into the portal to Retroville in their cat forms, but appear in their fairy forms on the other side. However, this is likely more of a budgetary measure than a goof, so that the production team don't have to make additional models for Cosmo and Wanda in different forms.
- When Jimmy, Timmy and Cosmo are acting warm and fuzzy, the shot is mirrored.
- When A.J. is in Retroville, his future suit is slightly unzipped and his boots are replaced with shoes.
- When A.J. and Chester entered Jimmy's world, they kept their balance. This contradicts both When Nerds Collide! and Nicktoons Unite!, where, in the former, Jimmy, Carl, Sheen, Libby, and Professor Calamitous fly through the portal in Dimmsdale, and in the latter, SpongeBob SquarePants falls over when he enters Jimmy's Lab. The theory is that when characters (with the exception of Goddard) enter a universal portal for the first time, they do not keep their balance. Since Jorgen and Timmy were not shown after they entered a portal for the first time, it is possible that characters from The Fairly OddParents! universe are not affected by the unbalance.
- In Dimmsdale, Shirley took Cosmo and Wanda's wands and turned them into humans. However, Cosmo can still somehow conjure "The Idiots" jacket onto himself even though Shirley took his magic.
- While Shirley was in Retroville at one point, the fire on his head was missing.
- Although Martha Wheezer and Amber were seen being "poofed" into RetroDimmsdaleville by Shirley, both do not appear in that dimension at all.
- Despite being seen "poofed" into RetroDimmsdaleville by Shirley, after he "poofed" the school, Ike, Rose, Bolbi, Brittany, Courtney Tyler, Betty Quinlan, Kevin, and Nick, strangely do not appear in that dimension at all, with only Butch appearing in the Fairly OddParents style. It is also unknown how they're in school but Jimmy and his friends aren't.
- When Sam was in RetroDimmsdaleville, his name tag is blank.
- When Miss Fowl is in RetroDimmsdaleville, her dress colors were swapped (this error can also be seen in the Jimmy Neutron: Jet Fusion video game).
- For some reason, Mayor Quador appears in his original design from the early episodes of Jimmy Neutron, rather than his Clark Gable-inspired design seen later in the series.
- There are multiple copies of some characters in the domino chain.
- Near the end, in RetroDimmsdaleaville, the old lady in the angry mob had her cane on fire, which means she shouldn't be able to walk.
- Despite having a brief speaking role, Judy Neutron's voice actor, Megan Cavanagh, is uncredited.
- Sharpay Folfax, who doesn't speak at all in this episode, is listed twice in the credits, under both "Mrs. Folfax" and "Libby's Mom".
Running Gags
- After A.J. is thawed out, he assumes he is in the future until Libby tells him he never left the present.
