- Suffering from baldness, he always wears a toupee, a secret only seen by Wanda and Poof (and bribed them not to tell or say anything)
- He loves to golf and is good at it, being under par. He will often finish playing his golf game before attending to a patient.
- He is voiced by and based on the show's creator and producer, Butch Hartman.[1] Although during his first appearance, he was voiced by Jim Ward.
- In the Swedish dub, his name is Doktor Karl Hingstlund. In the Latin American Spanish dub (made in Miami, FL), he's named "Doctor Ted Mata" only in The Gland Plan.
- Oddly when he puts his glasses on, he has pupils but when he takes them off, he has purple eyes, this stopped when Poof came.
- He doesn't pay much attention to other people when he's doing hobbies.
- He got smacked by an umbrella by Wanda because (when Poof had the chickenpox) he drags Wanda on a wild goose chase just to get a discount on the antidote and he put the antidote in a cup (and didn't do it before he came).
- He became more supportive after Poof was born.
- In the first five seasons, his eyes were shut. Starting with Hairicane, he now has blue eyes.
- He is one of the characters that doesn't call Timmy by his name.
- Dr. Rip Studwell has a few things in common with Wanda’s ex-boyfriend, Juandissimo. They have black hair, are extremely vain and are self-proclaimed ladies men.
