Development Devin "Dev" Dimmadome[2] is a character in The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish. He was the godchild of Peri. He is the son of Dale Dimmadome and is a frequent antagonist to Hazel Wells. He was her friend from A New Dev-Elopment to Operation: Birthday Takeback.

Character[]

Description[]

Dev is a red-headed kid with blue eyes who is almost always shown wearing sunglasses. He wears a white hoodie with a gold zipper, black jeans, and white boots with small gold plating.

Personality[]

Dev is smart as a whip and has fully embraced the need for technology, just like his father. His two drone babysitters, Au Pair 1 and Au Pair 2 accompany him wherever he goes and cater to his every beck and call. On the inside though, he's a lonely child yearning for his father's attention. Somewhat like the wealthy Remy Buxaplenty of the original series, but with layers.

Hazel and Dev Dimmadome started out as enemies, but as he gets lonelier over the course of the season, he softens and grows.

Background[]

Relationships[]

Hazel Wells and Dev[]

The two first met in Fly, where Dev immediately made fun of Hazel after she introduced herself to their class, which understandably angered her. Ever since then, Hazel and Dev have basically been rivals, with Dev always making fun of Hazel and Hazel trying to prove him wrong about her everytime he demeaned her. One way in which he bullied her was by getting her name wrong on purpose.

In Peace of Pizza, Dev and Hazel have their first positive interaction. When Hazel finds out that the reason why Dev supposedly hated pizza was because he was lactose intolerant, she assures him that they could have got him lactose free pizza, which touches him and he decides to bring back the pizza.

In A New Dev-Elopment, Dev and Hazel's relationship improves even more. After they get paired up in a treasure hunt, they mostly bicker as usual at first, but as the hunt progresses, they start having fun together and genuinely enjoying each other's company. Eventually, Dev even calls Hazel by her actual name, something that flatters her. The two declare each other friends by the end.

In Lost and Founder's Day, it's shown that the two are indeed still friends, with Hazel showing concern for Dev when Dale reveals that he loves his boots more than Dev. However, when Dev finds out about Dale's plan to capture Hazel due to her being an anomaly in his wish energy findings, Dev tries to take away Hazel's Little Founder's Day hat in order to protect her and accidentally calls her "Anomaly" in the process, which upsets her as she assumes that he is once again deliberately misnaming her to be a jerk.

At the end of Battle of the Dimmsonian, the two reconcile and by the next episode, they are back to being friends again.

However, at the end of Operation: Birthday Takeback, Dev finds out that his dad has been watching Hazel, leading to him thinking that Hazel wished to be his friend. He breaks off their friendship, calling her "Hazmat".

In Best of Luck

Peri and Dev[]

In Lost and Founder's Day, Dev becomes so miserable after the fall out between him and Hazel, that he becomes eligible for a fairy godparent, who happens to be Peri. When they first meet, Peri acts in a rather playful way towards Dev, while Dev is excited about the prospect of having a fairy godparent.

In Battle of the Dimmsonian, it's shown that while Peri cares for Dev, their relationship is currently a bit rocky, as Dev is still rather bratty and incredibly demanding towards Peri, which annoys Peri and causes him to become exhausted.

In Operation: Birthday Takeback, Dev wishes for Peri to go away after finding out that his father was after Hazel, effectively breaking their partnership. However, he was reinstated as his godfather at the end of Best of Luck, due to not giving his two weeks notice.

In The Battle of Big Wand, it's revealed that Dev hasn't wished for anything in a long while, resulting in Peri suffering from Magical Build-up, which Dev is initially apathetic to. However, when Peri tells Dev that he wanted to do right by him and that he cares about him, Dev is touched and decides to throw Peri, Cosmo and Wanda a key so they can escape. Unfortunately, Dev ends up losing Peri due to his actions in the episode.

Irep and Dev[]

Dev is excited at the prospect of a godparent who can grant him wishes that break the rules, and Irep is happy to grant them.
