Trivia

  • Both Crocker and A.J. return from the original series (Since the episode title has part of the Major's name in it, which is "Crock"). The latter even has some splash text saying "Remember him? From the original series?"
    • A.J. has a speaking role voiced by Gary Leroi Gray for the first time since "App Trap", eleven years before this episode premiered. Ironically enough, this episode premiered one month after the eleventh anniversary of "App Trap"
    • Crocker has his first major role in the franchise since "Goldie-Crocks and the Three Fair Bears." This also marks the very first time that a villain from the original series makes an appearance in A New Wish.
  • A.J.'s full name is revealed to be Anthony James Jr. and he founded the Galax Institute when he was ten years old.
  • The banner for the Galax Institute says "We are Just Asking Questions" but upside-down and backwards.
  • Mark Chang, his ship, his dad's ship, Dark Laser's space station, and an alien from Please Don't Feed The Turners appear on the mural.
  • Timmy Turner is mentioned a few times in this episode, with Crocker directly shouting "TURNER!" while chasing Hazel.
  • Cosmo and Wanda mention that Crocker was previously their godkid, referencing "The Secret Origin of Denzel Crocker," as well as their weakness to butterfly nets from the original show.
    • They also explain to Hazel how Crocker had caused a lot of issues for the godkid they had before Hazel (i.e., Timmy). This likely means that, if the ending of Channel Chasers is canon to A New Wish, the events of A New Wish should take place before said ending.
  • Dimmsdale is also mentioned in this episode as Crocker revealed to Hazel his previous job position as a schoolteacher there.
    • Sometime between the end of the original series and the events of this episode, Crocker stopped working as a schoolteacher and also moved to Dimmadelphia from Dimmsdale, where he ultimately got a job working at the Galax Institute (albeit as part of the custodial staff).
  • On its original airing, storyboard artist Kyle A. Carrozza wasn’t listed in the title card credits due to being arrested on two counts of child pornography possession in June 2024. In spite of this, he was credited on the digital release for the episode.
  • This episode originally aired on July 23rd, 2024, airing exactly 20 years after the hour long special Channel Chasers, which involved Timmy meeting his time traveling older self from 20 years into the future.

Allusions

  • Back to the Future - The episode's title is a reference to the 1985 science fiction film.
  • Never Gonna Give You Up - In the scene where Marcus Wells describes his ghost-catching device, a phrase from this song is said.
  • The walls have Ears - TBA
  • Moth Man - TBA
  • Jersey Devil - The crate says "Jersey Angel," referencing the Jersey Devil, a famous New Jersey cryptid.
  • The Space Vampires - TBA

Running Gags

  • Crocker saying "There's a mystery to be found."
  • People saying "The Galax Institute." (unaccredited)
  • Crocker saying "Ow my hip."
  • Crocker shouting his classic catchphrases from The Original Series "FAIRIES" and FAIRY-GOD-PARENTS!"

Continuity & Easter Eggs

  • Crocker returns from The Original Series and Fairly Odder, and still firmly believes in fairies and wants to capture them.
  • The fairy-hunting gear Crocker uses to chase Hazel, Cosmo, and Wanda is similar to what he used to chase Timmy in "Timvisible."
  • When A.J. is first introduced, his infocard breaks the fourth wall, as it says "Remember him? From the original series?".

Errors

  • In reality there are only 8 planets in the solar system, with Pluto being a Dwarf Planet.

Quotes

Crocker: Come to Papa! (locks them on target) I can't believe it. It's happening for real! (turns the Fairy De-Atomizer 3000 to the "Not Messin' Around!" mode) FINALLY! FAIRIES! FAIRIES! FAIRIES!
Crocker: I knew you reminded me of someone, that kid I used to terrorize with the pink hat. Oh, what was his name? Tubi? Trombone? Trebuchet? TURNER!
Crocker: Wait a second. Hmmm. If my handheld Magic Detector is going off, and your handbag was confiscated and taken to the Magical Objects Room, then that could only mean that your handbag or the contents therein are nothing but a clever disguise for none other than your very own... [classic evil spaz out] FAIRY - GOD - PARENTS! [excited gibberish]
