Cosmo and Wanda's Fishbowl is a goldfish bowl that Wanda, Cosmo, and later on Poof live inside, disguised as goldfish to everyone but Timmy and Sparky. Inside is an ornamental castle that serves as a proper home for them while acting as Timmy Turner's godparents.
Description[]
The bowl is round and filled with water, with purple gravel at the bottom. From the outside, the castle appears as a pinkish purple ornament of a simple castle tower with a single doorway.
The Castle[]
Although it appears to be a mere ornament from the outside, the castle actually has a quite vast interior. It is extremely elaborate with a number of rooms. The rooms include a Hall of Fame and a Hall of Infamy for former godchildren of Cosmo and Wanda, as well as a Hall of Timmy which is devoted entirely to their favorite godchild, Timmy. There is also an arcade, as well as a "microwish" oven.
Background[]
The fishbowl serves as Cosmo and Wanda's home for most of the franchise (up until A New Wish), appearing in nearly every episode.
Timmy with Cosmo in the fishbowl... on a motorboat
The fishbowl normally sits on Timmy Turner's nightstand. However, Timmy often carries the fishbowl around with him in the house and on trips, sometimes to an absurd degree. This has led to it being the subject of just as much abuse as its occupants, such as the bowl and its occupants being turned into ice cold "fairy god-sicles" when they were taken to a freezing cold mountain ski range.
The castle shown in the episodes, "Hassle in the Castle" and "Smart Attack" to be much bigger on the inside than it is on the outside. However, in other episodes where we see the interior, such as "Fly Boy" and "Open Wide and Say Aaagh!", it is seen to be much less elaborate. However, it is possible that in the later two episodes, the interior of the castle was not shown in detail. Cosmo and Wanda are also shown in some episodes sleeping as goldfish floating in the bowl, rather than inside the castle.
In The Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder, only Wanda and Cosmo live inside the fishbowl at the Turner Residence in Viv Turner's bedroom.
As of The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish, Cosmo and Wanda no longer live in the fishbowl, instead residing in an actual apartment with human identities.
Trivia[]
- It is also shown in "Hassle in the Castle" when Timmy steals Cosmo's wand, the castle's official address is supposedly "123 Fishbowl Lane, Timmy's Room, USA."
- In Smart Attack, Mr. Turner discovered that the castle is bigger on the inside than it appears on the outside. This could be a reference to Doctor Who, in which the TARDIS is bigger on the inside than it appears on the outside. The tents in Harry Potter also possess this property, though.
- Timmy was the only living human and godchild that went inside the castle as of yet.
- Cosmo and Wanda made a room called the "Hall of Timmy" which was in honor of Timmy was their current godchild.
- In 2004, Nickelodeon released an actual fishbowl based on it which includes the same castle, rocks, and Cosmo and Wanda figures used to decorate. It has, since, been discontinued.
