Elmer Earl "Butch" Hartman IV (born January 10, 1965) is an American animator, executive producer, animation director, storyboard artist, producer, and creator of the hit animated series, The Fairly OddParents, as well as Danny Phantom and TUFF Puppy.

He is currently working on the new Nickelodeon series Bunsen Is A Beast. He was also a part-time actor in the 1980s. He also voices various characters, such as the father of Trixie Tang, the school bus driver, Dr. Rip Studwell, and the farmer on TV.

Butch Hartman has been writing, directing, and story boarding episodes since the "Oh Yeah! Cartoons" animated shorts. All of his three shows employ the same style that involves thick outlines and thin in lines as well as the "flat-chinned children" and "Hartman Hips" drawing systems. This style was inspired by that of the Hanna-Barbera Animation Company which he worked for.

Appearances

Butch appeared as a waiter in "A Fairly Odd Movie: Grow Up, Timmy Turner!", and as one of the carolers in "A Fairly Odd Christmas". He also had an animated cameo appearance in "Abra-Catastrophe!" and "Marked Man". Butch also appeared as one of Vicky's headgags in the Season 7 episode "One Man Banned/Frenemy Mine".

Trivia

• Butch is friends with Seth MacFarlane, the creator of three animated series from Fox Studios. In fact, Seth even named a character after Butch in one of these series. He was also good friends with Chris Savino, who created The Loud House for Nickelodeon in 2016, and Foe Paws for Cartoon Network in 2000.
• He is also the creator of three other Nickelodeon series, Bunsen is a Beast (created in 2016), T.U.F.F. Puppy (created in 2010), and Danny Phantom (created in 2004).
• In 2012, Hartman served as an animation director to team up with Sony Pictures Animation to bring Tonka and ALF to the big screen.
• Butch is a Christian, and he was "saved" in 1997 after hearing Pastor Frederick K. C. Price preach at the Crenshaw Christian Center.

Departure from Nickelodeon

After 20 years of working on Nickelodeon, Butch left Nickelodeon on February 2nd, 2018 and announced his departure on his YouTube channel on February 8th, 2018. His explanation for this was that he wanted to move on to other things and focus more on his YouTube channel and other projects.
