"Anchors Away" is the twelfth episode of Season 9.

Synopsis[]

Chet Ubetcha sees Timmy's wishes, but before he can tell anyone, the wishes are unwished, causing him to look crazy and lose his job. Mr. Turner becomes the new anchorman. Timmy must get Chet back in order to save the city.

Plot[]

Timmy, Cosmo, Wanda, and Poof are on the outskirts of Dimmsdale because Timmy wants to make wishes without anyone seeing the fairies. Timmy wishes for an accordion-playing dinosaur. Meanwhile, Chet Ubetcha is on the outskirts reporting on the Dimmsdale Zoo. He sees the dinosaur, but Timmy makes Cosmo and Wanda get rid of it to stop Chet's cameraman from recording it. The next day, Timmy returns to the outskirts and wishes for a volcano that erupts with jelly beans. Chet is reporting on buildings nearby and sees the volcano. Again, the godparents make it disappear before it is caught on camera. Timmy and the fairies act out an alien invasion on the outskirts the next day. The spaceships are seen by Chet, who is reporting at the Outskirt Steakhouse. Sparky tells him that he also saw them. Chet tells the cameraman to get a shot of the talking dog, but Sparky magically disappears before this can happen. Chet concludes that he has gone crazy and is imagining things that are not real. He retires from his job to live in the woods.

Mr

Mr. Turner as a news reporter

Mr. Turner gets Chet's job as a news reporter. He reports from the same places near the city limits as Chet, but behaves unprofessionally and fails to deliver any actual news. Timmy and the fairies appear and find that the place is now in disarray; buildings are collapsing, wild animals are roaming around, and there is a pile-up of sleeping drivers by the steakhouse. Wanda has discovered on the Internet that if not for Chet being distracted by Timmy's wishes, he would have broken stories that would have prevented this.

Timmy, the fairies (disguised as humans), and Sparky find Chet's cabin in the woods and give him photos of the magical things he saw. Now knowing he is not crazy, Chet returns to the news and informs about what is happening on the outskirts—that the buildings are falling apart because they were built with Fudgy Bar sticks in place of steel girders to save money, that people eating from the steakhouse are falling asleep because the steakhouse is secretly serving them turkey to save money on steak, and that animals are escaping from the zoo because monkeys learned online how to pick the locks on their cages. The people and monkeys responsible are arrested by police. The Mayor awards Chet for saving Dimmsdale with the Newsman of the Year Award, whereas Mr. Turner receives the Edward R. Blooper Award (shaped like a bucking donkey) for his reporting. Chet credits Timmy for making his work possible.
