Fourth wall

In Wishology's parody of Matrix, Timmy says "wow, we are still spinning". This is an example of a fourth wall break.

The fourth wall is the imaginary "wall" at the front of the stage in a traditional three-walled box set in a proscenium theater, through which the audience sees the action in the world of the play. When speaking directly to the audience through the camera in a film or television program, it is called "breaking the fourth wall." The technique of breaking the fourth wall can be seen in various television programs, especially situation comedies, in animated cartoons, and in films. It is humorous mainly because what happens in the film is supposed to be happening as an ordinary day, so when they take note that they are being filmed or in an animated films case that some special effects are being used, it breaks the normal day feeling.

Opening credits & other media

• During the opening credits, Timmy, Cosmo, and Wanda look directly to the audience.
• At the end of some episodes, a character states a running gag that appeared throughout the episode. Usually the character stating that gag looks at the audience.

Episodes

• In "The Same Game", Timmy says "Yeah, that's vibrant and noticeable." while looking at the viewer.
• In "Pipe Down!", Cosmo winks at the viewers.
• In the first part of "Wishology!", when Timmy Turner makes a parody of "Matrix", he says "Wow, we are still spinning!" after the camera continues to orbit the scene for an extended period of time.
• In Operation F.U.N., Juandissimo Magnifico looks at the audience and asks, "Do you think I'm sexy?".
• In the very end of "Something's Fishy", a Kraken looks at the audience and waves.
• At the end of "The End of the Universe-ity", Crocker says "I'm still naked" to the audience, while grabbing the iris.
• In the "Five Days of F.L.A.R.G", when Mark is telling Timmy that on the "L" day of F.L.A.R.G. "you lie all day long," his eyes briefly move to the audience as he says "lie."
• Jorgen doesn't just break the fourth wall but blows it up in "Fairly Odd Baby" when he has the cameras zooming in on him and then saying that they have to back off after he grants Timmy's fairy baby wish. At least he still has three other walls.
• At the end of "Mice Capades", Cosmo tells the audience that this is a family show.
• At the very end of A Fairly Odd Christmas, Wanda directly addresses the audience to inform them, "No fairies were harmed in the making of this movie!"
• In the Season 8 episode "Meet the OddParents", Mr. Turner's narration scene is initially in black and white, then changes to color when Mrs. Turner turns the light on. In addition, Mrs. Turner and Poof can hear Mr. Turner's and Jorgen's (respectively) narration.
• In Season 9, it is almost became both an ending, and in the episodes a somewhat running gag to break the fourth wall, especially in "Love at First Bark".
• In "Emotion Commotion!," the man from the "Plain White Van" company says "Take this grappling hook and throw it off screen."

Video games

• In the opening cutscene of "Breakin' Da Rules", Cosmo summons up Da Rules with a magical burst reading "PLOT DEVICE!"
